I believe that Detention Diversion Advocacy Programs is a great deterrence for juveniles that have committed only one crime, but it would not have an impact for repeat offenders. Statistics shows that it had reduced recidivism, but only in a small increment. I think for juveniles whose crime that are not as severe as repeat offenders, the program would really be a success for them. It not only help the juvenile, but it also helps the parents as well and I think that is why the program is so successful. A lot of children learn from their mistakes and if they get the guidance they need to correct the problem before it gets worse or before they become habitual, then the DDAP process would be greatly warranted. Since DDAP is an outside source, I think it may make the delinquent feel like they have support outside of their family.

Reading the Focus on Delinquency there are similarities and differences between juvenile and adult systems. The one thing that should be changed is punish the guilty adults. Many times we have seen people incarcerated that are innocent, and then freed from prison. Our justice system needs some repair and updating. If we work more and harder to develop programs that can treat and protect adults/teens then we could probably avoid over populated prisons and jails.

I do believe delinquency is caused by the enviorment in the home. My opinion, Jennifer just had a lot on her mind while at the party she was just finding out that her boyfriend was cheating which caused her delinquent behavior. She agreed to everything in court and performed her duties well. I dont think shes a bad person, just someone who had a lot on her mind that night and needed to take her frustration out on someone.

I think that Jennifer is typical of allot of teenagers who make hasty and regrettable decisions. The difference is she was offered help instead of just punishment. If we approach more of are juveniles in this fashion they may have the opportunity to become productive and valuable members of society.

Focus on Delinquency:
I approve the difference and similarities on Juvenile and Adult Justice System.
I think some not all, but some juvenile do things because of peer pressure and some do things just for experiment and I think they should have second chances. Some juveniles learn after their mistakes although some need more chances than others. Adults have had their chances and growing up experiences. They know right from wrong.

My thoughts on the Jennifer's story was that a teenage girl went through some hard adustments with a realitive passing and her boyfriend cheating on her. By her being under the influence her udgement wass off and did not realize the consquenceds of her own actions. The youth courtsgave here the chance to get herlife in order. Counsleing and other volunteer work was also helpful for her.
