ego identity-Identity is formed when persons develop a firm sense of who they are and what they stand for.

role diffusion-Occurs when youths spread themselves too thin, experience personal uncertainty, and place themselves at the mercy of leaders who promise to give them a sense of identity they cannot develop for themselves.

Paternalistic family- A family style wherein the father is the final authority on all family matters and exercises complete control over his wife and children.

Uniform crime report-Contain official data on crime that is reported to law enforcement agencies across the country who then provide the data to the FBI. UCR focuses on crimes such as murder, non-negligent manslaughter, robbery, larceny, theft, burglary, arson. These crime statistics are compiled from UCR data.

I think in today's society. Youth lack a proper view of themselves, therefore a proper ego-identity hasn't been obtained. Society depicts and portrays what images are proper and accepted. This is proven by fashion, cosmetic surgery, weaves, status emblems, etc. Youth don't have a clear self-image because neither do their examples. US!!!!! Do we accept the way God created us and strive for contentment? Or do we put on an image or facade to tell the world I am just like you. Do we date to be different? Or do we conform to what is the norm? MUCH LIKE OUR YOUTH. WE TOO LACK A EGO IDENTITY.

Discussion questions:
Juveniles should be treated as adults when they commit adult crimes(felonies) Juveniles have became accustomed to getting a slap on the hand. Really no severe punishment. Penalties should be stiffened in order to send a message to juveniles. If you do the crime you must do the time. In life there are consequences to all actions whether good or bad. Juveniles must learn there are consequences to committing crimes, hopefully that will deter them from committing more.

I think curfew laws are helpful. The parents that aren't as conscientious would become more aware of their children's whereabouts. Hopefully, it would reduce crime. It seems that when juveniles get together after certain hours trouble occurs. Hopefully this would deter shootings, stabbings, vandalism, etc. In addition to that the juveniles would be in their homes at a decent hour to do homework, chores, and receive the proper amount of sleep to acheive productivity in school.
