Q. Should juveniles who commit felonies such as rape or robbery be treated as adults?

A. Juveniles who commit felonies such as rape and robbery should be treated as adults.
The more lenient the criminal justice system is on young offenders, the more they are likely to become repeat offenders who will commit more and more crimes. If they are treated as an adult on their first offense, this may be A deterrent for them from becoming repeat offenders. Just giving them a slap on the hand is just like telling them it is ok what you did, just don’t do it again. I am a true believer in let the punishment fit the crime. The punishment the juvenile justice system is handing down is only adding to the increase rate in which juveniles commit crimes, thus giving us more juvenile delinquents. These juveniles should be sent to adult court for criminal prosecution. If it was a gang member, age 13 that went out and committed a murder, don’t you think he would be tried as an adult, so why not the rapist and the robbers. The juvenile justice system wants to use excuses such as this child was not getting the proper care at home, what about the child that is getting the proper care at home, but still goes out and commit such a crime, what will the SYSTEM excuse be then. The state is quick to talk about what is in the best interest of the child, well what about the victims.

Q. Share your thoughts on curfew laws, are they helpful or not? Why or why not?

A. In some cases, enforcing a curfew law would be helpful. When you have parents that help enforce the laws when it comes to their children, this would help make all the differences in the world, especially when it comes to the parent being accountable for their child breaking curfew laws and being brought up on charges, serving jail time or simply receiving tickets for such an act. A lot of people may feel that this will only make the crime rate go up or just simply occur at different times of the day. Well if they are going to commit a criminal act they are going to do it regardless of the time of day. Some juveniles are so bold that they just don’t care. Enacting a curfew law will have some negative effects. There are a lot of teenagers that are already in possession of a fake ID, but this is a trend that would probably rise. I believe that if the juveniles that are breaking curfew receive some sort of charges, this too may be a deterrent from them breaking curfew or constantly breaking curfew once they see that the ones that do break curfew are punished by law.

Q. Why are males more delinquent than females? Is it a matter of lifestyle, culture, or physical properties?

A.Males' greater partcipation in criminal acts is explained by their wider involvment with delinquent peers, less self-control, and greater exposure to criminal opporunities. Lifestyle and culture defintely have on effect on young men, because they feel that they have to prove themselves or show their manhood. In order them to fit in certain cliques, they have to represent. The African American men in some communities have this type of belief that you should "rep yo hood", so if that means stealing, robbing, gang bangin', males feel obligated to pratice in those ciminal activites because my boys are doing it.

Q. At what age are juveniles truly capale of understanding the seriousness of their actions? Should juvenile court jurdsdication be raised or lowered?

Early jursidication held that children under the age of seven were legally incapable of committing crimes.Children ages seven thru fourteen were responsible for their actions.Age would have a determining fact on the situation and whether to excuse or light their punishment. I think that the crime commited, age, understaning the act should all be a determination to the courts for what the punishment should be. At the age of thirteen, children know rightd from wrong and should be held responsible for their actions.

#2 Share your thoughts on curfew laws, are they helpful or not? Why or why not?

I think all teenagers need to respect the basic ground rules that their parents set for them, including curfews. Teenagers have no business being out all night. City mandated laws are specifically important and in some instances I do believe that they work and that they should be enforced at every level of the law. Sure if a juvenile is going to commit a crime, they are going to do so regardless, but by having curfew laws and having them being enforced 100%, I do feel that it would reduce some of the crimes committed by teens that are allowed to hang out at all hours of the night. What’s so hard to understand, it keeps kids out of trouble. If they just allowed them to roam around all hours of the night, more kids would get hurt and do more stupid stuff. The only people who oppose it are teens who do the stupid stuff. Anyone in their right mind would support teen curfew laws. Applying curfew laws have actually increased juvenile crime rates. Teens begin to associate police officers with the curfew, and police officers begin to see any minor that is in violation of curfew as a criminal. This tension may lead to crimes being committed by those who may not normally break laws.

#6 Are the amount of crimes an offender commits affected by age, explain?

YES!!!! Because the punishment that a juvenile receive for a particular crime is not the same punishment or as harsh a punishment than what an adult would receive for the same crime.

2. Share your thoughts on curfews laws, are they helpful or not? Why or Why not?
I believe for the most part curfew laws are helpful, for one it helps parents to keep better control on their children and it is better for society, as far criminal activities that occur in late hours. It also give teenagers a early look at obeting laws and what could happen to them if laws are broken.

3. Should juveniles who commit felonies such as rape or robbery be treated as adults?
In this case, Yes because to commit a crime like this a juvenile knows that this is a crime, and I feel anyone who has committed a crime and know it is wrong at the time of the crime is committed they should get whatever punishment fits the crime. Regardless if they are under the influence. I am a firm believer in the statment "you did the crime now do the time."

2) Share your toughts in curfew laws, are they helpul or not? why or whynot?

Curfew laws have some beinfits keeping young adults out the streets after 11:00 pm. Police suggest that it is a helpful strategy to prevent or control vandalism, graffiti, night time burglary, and auto theft. But studies show that young adultscommit crimes between 3-6pm showing that the crimes are just shifting the schedule. I belive curfew laws help keep some control but the first inital step is how are the parents treating their childeren, to make sure that young adult does not continue on the path to serious or more violent crimes.

Why are males more delinquent than females> Is it a matter of lifesyle, culture, orphysicalproperties?

Studies show that males are more delinquent than females.Physical prperties for young men as a teenager is always constantly changeing, after school activities such as sports can help contol involintary action such as mood swings and acting on their impules, sports help establish self control and discpline. Also lifestyle can influence amajor role when due to poverty or ust not hvaing enough money for living exspenses. This can cause young men to due acts that are considered illeagal such as dealing drug, and robbery for money. The young adults should be admitted to treatment programs to give the young men a chance to reform and avoid being sconsider at risk of being a career criminal.

4.why are males more delinquent than females. Is it a matter of lifestyle, culture,or physical trait. I feel as though lifestyle has a big impact on males being more delinquent than females. In many different familes mothers are more leniant on boys than girls. Boys are able to stay out later than girls and are prone to be peer pressured in to delinquent acts while around peers. Boys also committ deliquent acts due to not wanting to be labeled such as a punk or gay etc...
2.share your thoughts on curfew laws, are they helpful or not? Why or why not?
I personally think that curfew laws help to a certain extent. I do believe that curfew laws are helpful by keeping juveniles out of trouble when caught performing delinquent acts late at night. Many juveniles committ delinquent act before or after curfew.

Q,Share your thoughts on curfew laws, are they helpful or not? why or why not?

A.I personally have some mixed emotions on the curfew,I feel that they are helpful for the kids that are out commiting crimes and always gettin in trouble yea they would be considered helpful, but what about the kids that are out late that don't have problems like bein at a late movie, game and even out to eat. They seem to be the ones gettin punished also when they are simply out tryin to enjoy life, therefore it also seem to hurt the good kids also.

Q3.Should juvenilles who commit felonies such as rape or robbery be treated as adults.

A.I feel that juvenilles that create crimes such as rape and robbery should be treated as adults and the reason bein is that if we keep treating them as kids and giving them slaps on the hands then they are most likely going to go out and commit that crime again or even a more severe one and why, because they feel like they won't get in trouble for these things because they are minors but what happens when they grow up to be an adults and we have created monsters.

Q. Share your thoughts on curfew laws, are they helpful or not? Why or why not?

A. No. kids are goin to be kids, which means that they are goin to find a way to do devious behaviors. Even if its a law restricting them or not.

Q. Are the amount of crimes an offender commits affected by age, explain?

A. Yes, because with age comes more responsibilites and in some societies and cultures the economic status makes the resources very thin so people will do what they have to do to survive.
